Merge tiles to reach the magic number
2048 is a sliding number puzzle on a 4x4 grid. Every swipe pushes all the tiles one direction at once, and two tiles showing the same number fuse into their double. Reach the 2048 tile and you win. The tension comes from the new tile that spawns after each move, refilling the space you just cleared.
How to play
Playing 2048

Swipe up, down, left, or right to slide every tile on the board at once.

Merge two tiles of the same value on contact: two 4s become an 8.

Expect a new 2 or 4 in a random empty cell after every move that changes the board.

Add the value of each merge to your score, so bigger tiles are worth more.

Build the 2048 tile to win, then keep merging if you want a higher score.

Watch the grid fill: when no swipe can move or merge anything, the run is over.
Tactics
Three ways to get better at 2048
Anchor one corner
Pick a corner and keep your biggest tile there for the whole run. Use only three of the four swipe directions, so the anchor never moves. Most losses trace back to one careless swipe that pulled the big tile off its corner.
Build a snake row
Fill the row holding your anchor in descending order, then build the row above it in the opposite direction. That zigzag lets a whole chain collapse in one swipe when the numbers line up.
Space beats score
Treat empty cells as your real resource, not the big tile. Once you are down to one or two gaps, stop chasing merges and make the swipe that opens the most room, even if it scores nothing that turn.
