Matching

Match the cards

Every card starts face down. Turn two over: a pair stays up, a mismatch flips back, and the board looks exactly as it did a second ago. What changed is what you know. Matching rewards the player who remembers where a card was, not the one who taps fastest.

How to play

Playing Matching

  1. 1

Tap any face-down card to flip it and reveal the picture underneath.

  2. 2

Tap a second card, and a matching pair stays face up while a mismatch turns back over.

  3. 3

Study a mismatched pair before it flips, because those two positions are the whole point of the round.

  4. 4

Watch the grid thin out as matched pairs stay face up, since every pair you take is two fewer places left to search.

  5. 5

Repeat the two-card turn until every pair sits face up and no card is left hidden.

  6. 6

Aim to finish in the fewest flips you can, the traditional measure of a clean board.

Tactics

Three ways to get better at Matching

  • Turn over in order

When you have nothing to go on, open new cards left to right along a row instead of at random. A card you first saw in a known sequence is far easier to place again than one you hit by chance.

  • Unknown card first

Spend your first flip on a card you have never seen. If it matches something already in your memory, take the pair with the second flip. If it does not, flip another new card and learn two positions instead of one.

  • Anchor to the corners

Positions stick better when they hang on something fixed. Lock in the four corners first, then the cards sitting against them along each edge, and store everything else as one row below or two columns left of an anchor you already trust.

Inside Reel Games

Matching in the swipe feed

A single upward swipe brings the grid up, already dealt and waiting on a first tap. Nothing loads. The cards and the shuffle are handled by the phone itself, so a car ride through dead service plays the same as your kitchen table. Clear one board, start another, and the app never puts an ad in the gap.

Good for the wait for a prescription to be filled.
