Pinball

Don't let the pins down

A steel ball drops onto a sloped table and gravity is always pulling it toward the drain. Two flippers at the base are all that stand in the way. You launch with the plunger, then keep the ball alive by hitting bumpers, ramps and targets, each worth points. The run ends when your last ball drains.

How to play

Playing Pinball

  1. 1

Pull back the plunger and release it to launch the ball onto the table.

  2. 2

Tap the left and right flipper controls to swat the ball back up the playfield.

  3. 3

Aim for bumpers, drop targets and ramps, each of which adds points when the ball strikes it.

  4. 4

Send the ball across to the far flipper when no shot is in front of you, instead of swinging at everything that arrives.

  5. 5

Keep the ball off the drain between the flippers, because each ball that falls there is gone.

  6. 6

Build your score across the run, then compare the total on the global leaderboard.

Tactics

Three ways to get better at Pinball

  • Watch the ball, not the score

The score display pulls your eyes off the playfield at the worst moment. Read it between balls, when nothing is in motion. Every point you are about to earn depends on the ball still being in play.

  • Flip late, not early

The common mistake is flipping the instant the ball comes near. Let it roll down toward the flipper tip first, then flip. Contact out at the tip carries far more speed than a hit near the base.

  • The dead bounce

When a ball rolls down onto the face of a flipper at moderate speed, leave the flipper at rest. The rubber bounces it across to the other side, which beats a wild swing that flings it into a side channel. A ball falling into the gap between the two flippers is gone either way, so save your reaction for the ones you can still reach.

Inside Reel Games

Pinball in the swipe feed

The table sits in the vertical feed with everything else. Flick up from the game above and the plunger is already waiting, since nothing here stops to load. The game itself lives on the device, so a basement, a long flight or a dead cell zone still gives you a full run, and your score reaches the global leaderboard once you are back online. Drain your last ball and the next round starts at once, with no ad in between.

Good for a quick run while you wait in line.
