Snake is one rule stretched to its breaking point. You steer a line around a grid, eat the dot, and grow one segment longer. The board never gets bigger, so the thing that kills you is your own tail. Every point you score makes the next point harder to reach.
How to play

Steer the snake toward the food, turning before you run out of room.

Tactics
Three ways to get better at Snake
Follow a fixed route
The known safe strategy is a Hamiltonian cycle: a single looping path that visits every square once and returns to its start. Trace it lap after lap and the food always arrives on your route. It is slow, and it never kills you.
Keep the tail tidy
Run your body along the walls in tight rows instead of looping through the middle. A coiled tail leaves the center open, and open center space is what lets you reach food without boxing yourself in.
Plan the exit first
Before you turn toward food, look at where you will be after you eat it. Food tucked into a corner or against your own body is often a trap: you can get in, but the extra segment leaves no way out.
